Cottesbrook offers various accommodation options and function. Currently we offer two self-contained cottages and both can sleep five people. Accommodation includes a continental breakfast and local shuttle service to the surrounding areas.

Cottesbrook was established in 1856 as a farm in the Strath-Taieri area and has expansive grounds, fine stone buildings and the homestead is situated in mature gardens. Although a "working farm", it is being transformed with an emphasis on tourism
We are located two kilometers from the township of Middlemarch and a one hour drive from Dunedin and the International airport. From September thru April the Otago railway offers train service between Dunedin and Middlemarch. The small town of Middlemarch has a Central Otago climate of warm, sun-drenched summers and picturesque snow-capped winters. The property has access to the Taieri River and offers opportunities for fishing, canoeing and swimming. There are farm tracks for walking and biking. Far away from any city lights the night sky is spectacular!!
The Middlemarch/Strath Taieri area has a number of activities to offer such as the Central Otago Rail Trail which begins or ends in Middlemarch depending on where you wish to start. There are Department of Conservation walkways up to the nearby Rock and Pillar range and a walk to the Sutton Salt Lake. Middlemarch has two cafes, a hotel for meals, a grocery shop, a covered swimming pool, and a golf course. The Taieri river is a short walk away. Wildlife abounds in this secluded area and its easy to spot Hawks, pigs, deer, goats, rabbits, skinks, geckos, owls and the rare blue herons. Local fish include plentiful trout and eels.
Our "woolshed" is used during the spring and summer weekends as a 'barn dance' environment for cruise ships and railway tours but is available for weddings and other functions.
A pick-up and drop-off service to the local areas and shops is included free of charge at your convenience. Wireless broadband is available near the office.
Homestead accommodation is planned for the near future.
